Moreover, Jeep has debuted the newly standard Jeep Active Drive 4×4 system. The system is fully automatic and will seamlessly transition the Compass in and out of 4WD thanks to a new fully disconnecting rear axle and power-transfer unit (PTU). The system will do so automatically based on drive mode selections and without driver intervention. Those modes are as follows: Auto, Snow, Sand/Mud, and Rock mode on the Trailhawk.
Compass Trailhawks will also get Active Drive Low, which gives the Trailhawk a “class-leading” 20:1 crawl ratio, earning it Jeep’s Trail Rated badge.
The “host of other updates” we mentioned above includes a smattering of now-standard safety features, like drowsy driver detection, rear-seat occupancy warning, lane-keep assist, automatic braking, blind spot monitoring, and cross-path detection systems.
Jeep says that these systems, both standard and available, are the most available safety features in the Compass’ class.
